Week Five

Week five was an absolute blur!

We started the week off with screen production, and got out the big guns in terms of cameras. We’re starting to prepare for the next assessment for this class, which is setting the camera up, putting on the appropriate settings and then taking it down and putting it back the way it was. Sounds easy right? Wrong! For me, anyway, although having said this I’m finding this big video camera a lot easier to use than the small DSLR one we were using previously. So hopefully with a little practice I’ll be able to complete this assessment like it’s nothing at all!

Next was editing, where we began our first assessment. It didn’t take me long to get it somewhere it could be considered ‘finished’ but I know I can do a lot better, and make it look a lot smoother. I’m glad I chose the music I did, although I might change some of the clips this week. I was going for a ‘conspiracy documentary showing late at night on SBS’ kind of feel when I made it, and I plan to spend the next session perfecting this to something I can be happy with.

Watching the Lynda tutorials has started to further my understanding of Premiere Pro a lot, although I still think investing in buying the actual program would be beneficial to me, too. My goals for this week are to get up to date with all the Lynda tutorials, complete a mock-up of the screen production assessment, as well as create a quick pitch for a how-to-video (which may or may not be due tomorrow…)

Another important thing to be completed this week is the photoshoot the class is doing Tuesday afternoon. This isn’t an assessment or something we’re being graded on, yet it’s got me stressing worse than any assignment or major project! I hate having my picture taken. With a fiery unbridled passion. I can take a picture of me no problems, the minute somebody else is involved in the equation, worse yet, they are the ones in control of the equation, I lose all confidence. So this week shall be very interesting.

Wish me luck!
