1. Describe in simple terms how you would use key-frames to fade in to a title.

I would begin by highlighting the title box, and going into effects. I would find the 'fade' effect and click on this, then find the frame I would like to start the fade from. I would add my first key-frame here, making sure the fade percentage is still at 100%. I would then find the frame I would like the fade to finish, i.e. have no title left at all. I would place my second key-frame here, and scroll the percentage down to 0%. You can add more key frames in between these at varying percentages to make the fade slower or stunted or however you envision your fade to go.

2. What are 3 key principles of Logo and Screen Graphic Design. Explain why you think they may be important.

I think the three most important principles of logo and screen design are attention, response and meaning. They come from the ARMM model as layed out in the science of logo design video on Lynda. Attention is always going to be important, as its what gets your logo noticed in the first place. Response is key to having a successful logo or design, because it may get attention, but if it garners a negative response, you've lost your audience. You also have to have a meaning behind your logo or design. Once you've grabbed your audiences attention and they've given a positive response, they can connect with the meaning behind what you've created.

3. Describe what is meant by the ‘Rule of Thirds’ in Screen Design?

The rule of thirds is the subdivision of the frame to form a guideline for a visually pleasing composition. (Composition is how every element is arranged in the frame.) The strongest position in the frame is usually along the left hand vertical line.

4. What is meant by the term, ‘Hierarchy of Information’ when talking about Screen Info-graphic elements such as titles?

The hierarchy of information establishes which information will be read first, through typography and composition. Usually this is done using infographics, which explains things in short info grabs in a visibly pleasing way.
