Assessment week. I'm writing this on a Sunday night, happy that I've finally finished the assessments that were due on Friday. Having finished these three I feel a little bit more confident about completing the editing assessment, even though it's due in two weeks and I'm still basically hopeless. But there's always time, and now that I've created a Lynda.com account I can catch up and re-watch every premiere pro tutorial I can find. God knows I need it.
I'm finding now that although I have very little understanding, I like the audio side of the editing class. Learning about Foley effects and how they are made was really enjoyable, and made me realize again how many different jobs there are in the film-making field.
Throughout the coming week I aim to practice and put extra work into learning how to place key frames, lay basic effects on titles and how to lay audio correctly in premiere pro. I'll try and come into school at least once on Thursday to have an extra play around on the computers and using premier pro, so that going into the first editing assessment I have at least some basic skills and know-how.
Another way I'll be utilizing the Lynda tutorials this week is watching more on camera operation, such as set up and basic controls and settings on some of the cameras we will be looking at and using in the screen production fundamentals class. Doing the photo story sequence assessment really showed me how much I need to learn, and all I can really do is improve on my first attempt.
So although the pressure of fast coming due dates is over, I'm still going to put the pressure on myself to do extra study and watch more tutorials, in order to do as well as I need to.
