1. Before beginning this course I just thought editing was all about cutting the footage together and that was that. Now I know that a lot more goes on in the editing room as well as cutting shots together, there's all the audio files (music, sound FX, dialogue tracks,) and choosing the right shot to include in the final piece. There's the instinct to know which shot to use and what to follow it with, as these can change the way the audience perceives the story or action going on in the film as a whole.
2. 24fps: usually used by 35mm movie cameras
25fps: is used all around the world, in 50 hz regions
29.97fps: is a television standard by the NTSC
3.A codec is a program that makes data smaller so that it can be transmitted faster. It will also decompress received data once transmitted.
4. 3 point editing is basically setting down three edit points. You'll set down an inpoint for a clip, then the outpoint of clip. After that you'll set down either an inpoint or outpoint for the sequence. These first two points show what will be the in and out point of the clip. The last point is where it will be placed on the timeline.
5. Before cutting a single frame (after setting up editing project, and importing your assets,) you should watch the actual footage. Watch everything you have to get a better idea of what you're actually editing and when you're going to want to cut.
